An extreme Summer is fading, and Fall is upon us. Most of us are weaning calves, pregging cows and preparing for winter.
Please check out our Idaho Angus Association official website… IdahoAngusAssociation.com. Our goal with the website its to keep members and interested individuals update with Idaho Angus activities, both past, and current. If you would like to have your Ranch website linked to it, that is available for a $50/ year investment. If you are interested, please let Tiffany Hansen or Amber Gay now.
Plans for the 68th Annual Gem State Classic Bull and Female Sale are also beginning. I would like to invite everyone to attend the show, February 8, 2019, and Sale February 9, 2019. Our annual Idaho Angus banquet will be the evening of February 8th at the Turf Club. This is a great chance to visit with Angus breeders and fellow cattlemen and support the Idaho Junior Angus Association and the Idaho Angus Auxiliary. A 4-H and FFA judging contest will be held Saturday morning, with sale credit certificates for the Gem State sale, going to the high placing individuals. It is also a great chance for the adults to participate, for bragging rights!
Anyone planning on consigning cattle to the Gem State Sale, or interested in possibly consigning, the deadline will be December 1. The entry form is attached with this letter. The Sale Committee would like to encourage any information to be included with the entry form, like i50K/Angus GS tests, non-lethal Genetic Defect test results and brief comments. As a reminder, we can only include official AHIR weights and ratios in the catalog. We can also, only note animals that have complete and processed Genomic data, with a Genomic symbol. The more information we can provide to potential buyers will help promote your consignments and the sale.
If you are a Facebooker, make sure to check out Gem State Classic Bull and Female Sale Facebook page for sale updates. We received many positive comments from the Social media crowd with this page. We will start posting Sale animal and Sire pictures, as soon as we start receiving entries.
The Idaho Angus Association will be putting a new 2019-2021 member directory together this coming Spring. We will offer some “premium” Pages at Banquet and encourage you to contact a board member for more details.
The Idaho Angus Association has a progressive board of directors and Gem State sale committee. Our goal is to increase opportunities for ALL our members. We have seen an active trade in the calf market, this summer and early fall. Hopefully, it will continue into the Winter and into the Spring Bull Sale season. If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to contact me (via email, text or phone). I hope to see everyone at the 2019 Gem State Classic.
